Trials
Time-bound evaluation licenses, trial campaigns, extension and conversion workflows, and how trials differ from subscription licenses.
Trial licenses are time-limited entitlements for evaluation. The dashboard Trials area aggregates trial-specific licenses for monitoring; creation often uses the standard license wizard with type Trial or dedicated trial routes.
Trial lifecycle
- Issue — license wizard type Trial + trial duration (days/hours).
- Activate — customer uses key; clock starts per policy (issue date vs first activation).
- Monitor —
/dashboard/trialsfilters Active, Expired, Converted, Cancelled. - Extend — operator adds time for sales follow-up (API + UI).
- End early — operator cancels trial before natural expiry.
- Convert — replace with paid perpetual/subscription license; transfer entitlements/device bindings where supported.
Trials page operations
Sidebar: Trials. Aggregates trial-type licenses so sales and support do not hunt through the full license list.
- Filter by status — Active, Expired, Converted, Cancelled.
- Search — customer email, license key, product name.
- Extend trial — push expiry date; writes an audit entry.
- End trial — immediate expiry; validation fails on next SDK or API check.
- Create — use license wizard with type Trial or Trials page shortcut when offered.
- Open license detail — full activations/sessions context for escalations.
Trial vs subscription
- Trial — evaluation SKU; often single-seat; marketing funnels; may auto-expire without payment.
- Subscription — recurring term tied to billing renewal; see Subscription model.
Roles
Same as license management: product owners and system Admin extend/end trials. Members cannot access trial admin actions.
